NUSDeltares wins the prestigious DutchCham Winsemius Award for Sustainability & Innovation
NUSDeltares -the strategic knowledge alliance between Deltares and the National University of Singapore (NUS)- was awarded the Winsemius Award for Sustainability & Innovation last week.
The Award is an initiative of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce Singapore and celebrates accomplishments of Dutch and Singaporean businesses.
The Winsemius Awards celebrated its third edition on March 23 at the Grand Hyatt hotel. The honorable Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister for National Development & Second Minister of Finance, and H.E. Jacques Werner, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Singapore, were gracing the occasion.
At the Winsemius Awards Gala Dinner – named after the late Dutch economist Albert Winsemius who was a longtime adviser to the Singaporean government- seven award categories were presented. The awards represent winners whose level of sustainability and innovation is outstanding. NUSDeltares was the winner within the category Singaporean- Dutch Cooperation. The award was accepted by Professor Sek Man Wong, Director NUSDeltares.
According to the jury ‘NUSDeltares is a definite winner in collaboration as their cooperation in research across different hemispheres leads to bigger results and has huge impact on high density cities’.
Mr. Rinus Vis, Director Singapore Operations and Deltares liaison, agreed: ‘Due to the projects we do together, our companies grow; their countries grow and even communities and society as a whole benefit’.
United in NUSDeltares, the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Deltares jointly undertake applied research and specialist consultancy projects, focusing on four interconnected research topics: Urban Water Management, Adaptation to Climate Change, High Density Living and Data, Models and Hydroinformatics. Within each of these themes, NUSDeltares aims to connect the high-level fundamental research of NUS with the innovation-driven applied research and applications of Deltares in order to develop innovative, game-changing solutions for societal challenges. NUS and Deltares experts work together in three ways: fundamental research, applied R&D and specialist consultancy.
In 2015 NUSDeltares won the DutchCham Winsemius Water Award.
